Carolina Panthers narrow top pick Cam Newton, Marcell Dareus, two other sources say

Open for Panthers Director General Marty Hurney said at the press conference draft Tuesday that the team is keeping all its options.

"We are talking about different scenarios all the time," Hurney said. "Ron and I have much spoken, we have more to each other that our wives talked about stuff.

ESPN NFL draft Insider Todd McShay, said A.J. Green, Marcell Dareus, Von Miller and Patrick Peterson are the players only elites in the project.

"Podcasts more."

Carolina hired Ron Rivera as head coach this shoulder, replacement of long date coach John Fox. Fox was fired after one season 2-14.

The Panthers have 28 potential agents of free and Pro Football weekly reported Tuesday that wideout star Steve Smith cleaned his locker and team suite before that NFL owners locked out players in March.

The report also stated that Smith has asked to be traded before the lockout began. Charlotte Smith home has been on the market for more than a year, but he said that the season last it was because it plans to move to another house in the region that would better meet the needs of his family.

There has been speculation for months that the veteran wide receiver might want out as the Panthers continue with a movement of youth in Rivera.

After the capture of Jake Delhomme passes for seven seasons, Smith spent last season playing with three different quarterbacks, including the choice of second round of 2010 Jimmy Clausen.

Although the selection of green the Georgia can help the Panthers replace Smith, sources said ESPN Paolantonio that Newton has emerged as the former favorite for the top pick. Newton, a quarterback of the double threat of many talents, won the Heisman Trophy the last year, leading Auburn national championship in his first year as a shift from the school.

At 6-foot-5 and 248 pounds, Newton has great size, but also good speed. He obtained a rocket arm, great skills courses and cold-blooded have shown in the Pocket, leading Auburn to an undefeated season.

But the winner of the Heisman played college than a single season, was arrested and faced other issues that puts his character in issue.

However, Hurney, Rivera and Panthers owner Jerry Richardson said Paolantonio that they are convinced that Newton has what it takes to transform itself into a potential franchise quarterback.

Richardson said Paolantonio that he recently had a long meeting with Newton to Carolina of the owner of the House and came away very impressed.

Clausen started just three touchdown passes to go a long with nine interceptions and had a League-worst 58.4 passer rating a year ago, when Carolina had more serious offence of the NFL.

Rivera noted watch movies that he was "almost unjust" situations Clausen was developed, but also to noted quarterback as one of the needs of his team.

"I think that the importance of this position has increased even more in recent years," Hurney said, citing the recent rules changes that promote passage offence.

Alabama Dareus and Peterson the LSU are considered safer than Newton peaks, but defensive tackle or cornerback have impact on a jaded team which can a franchise quarterback.

The Panthers, who do not have a second round pick, will also attempt to trade in the second round, said team sources Paolantonio. Caroline has two selections in the third round.

The Panthers completed another their many needs by making the leader of the defence of Virginia, that choose the 98th overall. Hogan is the 14th cornerback taken together.

A wild week of the NFL continued Saturday, with players still locked after a brief respite Friday. That night, however, a decision of the Court of Appeal allowed the League to reinstate the lockout which had been lifted earlier in the week.

But peaks continue to come as the project is protected under the old collective agreement, which expired on March 11.

The Minnesota Vikings, who have seven picks the last day of the draft, selected Iowa defensive tackle Christian Ballard with the ninth choice in the 106th round, fourth overall.

"I didn't have a clue to what would happen", Miller said, referring to the liquidation with the Broncos.

NFL draftFootball fans got their first chance to be heard directly by Roger Goodell, and the Commissioner was transmitted with boos at the beginning of the project of 3 days in New York. History

John Elway, Vice President of football operations, a Broncos tweeted "Excited to select Von Miller as a Denver Bronco - we believe that it is the most explosive and best player in this project."

The third choice, the Buffalo Bills addressed their defence taking Alabama defensive tackle Marcell Dareus, a versatile player who can Excel inside or in the rush to pass as an end in a 3-4 scheme.

The Carolina Panthers pick top-Cam Newton ready for review

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-before signing off the coast on the decision to write Cam Newton No. 1 overall, owner of Carolina Panthers Jerry Richardson has invited the former Auburn quaterback home and withdraw a letter from a fan.

"In this letter," explained Newton, "the person said," Mr. Richardson, can you ask Cam Newton he wants to be great? "" "". "

A day after the bet Panthers that Newton has the desire to be a franchise quarterback, Newton stood at a podium, Friday, in a crisp grey adapt and blue tie and juror should not be outworked.

"I understand that it is not something that is going to be instant, as instant grits", Newton said to adapt to the NFL. "It is more like collard greens" You let it sit and wait. But at the same time, it will be a fun process. I know that. ?

Sporting a broad smile and seeping trust, Newton met with journalists at his new place of work Friday he embarks on a quest that allow negative labels and overcome scrutiny to lead the Panthers to the basement of the NFL.

"I embraced this process to be a person that everyone watching," said Newton.

This is certainly the case as Newton parade around Bank of America Stadium as the highest of the draft - and probably the most risky - in 17 seasons for the Panthers.

Questions surround his problems off-field in Florida, his alleged father of toll regime during his recruitment and how he will adapt to an offence of propagation to Auburn to a pro-style system where reading defenses is more difficult.

"When you look at the Auburn offence, they see a bit of a simplistic offence." But at the same time, you cannot blame me to enter in an offense that a coach had his own philosophy, Newton said. "It's my job to make this transition and to do everything to operate".

A 6-foot-5, winner of Heisman Trophy 248-pound certainly does this to Auburn. He threw 30 touchdown passes and ran for 20 more for the 14 - pour le 14-0 de les Tigres 0 of the Tigers championship season. In comparison, the registered Panthers 16 offensive touchdowns two games more in 2010.

"His ability to run with the football, as a carrier of ball, not only as a scrambler," coach Ron Rivera said when asked about the strengths of Newton. "It may open things for our running backs.". If defence crashes down on the line of scrimmage, he can bootleg outside and do something to occur.

But how long will take to get to this point? And it can stay out of the crisis?

Dishes of Herm Edwards on decision of Caroline to select Cam Newton with the No. 1 pick, the nature of the draft and much more.

"Podcasts more."

Center Ryan Kalil was unable to resist caquet his new teammate when it posted on Twitter, "Congratulations to entertainer and icon, Cam Newton." This is in reference to a statement of fact Newton Sports Illustrated in which he said that he regarded as more than a football player.

Kalil, however, hastened to attend Newton Friday.

Kalil "Listen, both that it is winning football games, and we help win football games he can say and do what he wants," said.

Winning has happened only twice for Carolina season last in the terrible quarterback play. Jimmy Clausen part 1-9 as a starter rookie after he replaced the injured and ineffective Matt Moore.

"Obviously we fought last year," said Moore, defined as a free agent. "If a guy like that is an explosive player can help this team, it is a good choice."

There was another element of the plot in the imminent QB competition.

After that Newton was with Rivera holding a no. 1 Panthers Jersey and cameras flashed, Newton was asked if he hoped wear no. 2, that he was at Auburn.

"I will try," said Newton.

This number is now up to Clausen.

And while that Clausen allowed via a text message Thursday night, it is not to give his employment. Clausen was among the first players to arrive at the headquarters of the team at dawn Friday when the NFL opened its doors, following an order by the Court at the end of the lockout.

"He wished me luck.". Just for a person to do, which speaks volumes on his personality and the type of person he really is, "said Newton. "We had an interesting conversation on Charlotte." He said he was here and I was hoping that might get a chance to meet him. I am pleased not only meeting Jimmy, but much other teammates. ?

After having talked about how he hoped the profile of her work ethic after star quaterbacks Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees, Newton was taken for meetings with the coaches. It was the first step in a process in which the Panthers and Newton hoping to prove critical.

"I say now: I try to be the best,"Newton says. ".I strive to be great. ?

Newton QB Cam will 1 in NFL Draft to the Panthers

Cam Newton provided one of the few predictable times, so far, in a bizarre shoulder of the NFL.

While the League labour dispute went before the courts, the winner of the Heisman Trophy has been selected as no. 1, as expected, in the draft on Thursday night, taken by the Carolina Panthers NFL.

Moments before the name of the Auburn quarterback was called by Roger Goodell, frustrated fans showered the Commissioner of the NFL with chants of "we want football." We want football. ?

Goodell replied with a smile, saying: "I hear you." "so do I."

Newton led Auburn to an undefeated season and its first national championship since 1957. Caroline was 2-14 last year, with the help of four quarterbacks, two of them, the recruits.

"I am ready to change this all whole body, to go from worst to first," said Newton, the third line right quarterback taken first overall. "Just being a Panther is the most special part about it."

Then things are a little wackier when Texas A & M linebacker Von Miller became the second choice, selected by Denver. Miller, a plaintiff in the players of antitrust trial filed to block the lockout, strode across the stage with tears to the eyes and étreint Goodell.

"I never had nothing against Roger Goodell," said Miller. "I want just to ensure continued to have played football." When I came across the stage, I was meeting the Commissioner. This is it. ?

It is a strange opening to what is normally a festive event. In this shoulder of labour disputes, the first work stoppage the League since 1987 temporarily ends Friday. The 32 teams will resume business under the provisions of the order of U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson to lift the lockout.

But the lockout could be in place if the NFL wins an appeal. If this happens, Newton, Miller and all the players selected Thursday evening would be pushed back into the recesses of the work.

For the moment, they will be allowed to report to their teams, meet coaches and get the rules. Contract negotiations are uncertain until the League announced its rules for the 2011 season - rules which may be in effect for that little time, if an appeal is granted.

The project was never in danger of being held because it is protected under the old collective agreement which expired in March. Moments before that everything began, Goodell has requested a minute of silence for the victims of vicious storms which decimated part of the South on Wednesday. On stage, he was surrounded by the stars of Auburn and Alabama and their coaches.

With respect to the stars, none not shined more brilliant than Newton, who has demonstrated that it can handle the heat of a projector. He turned in a 2010 season sensational, while the NCAA investigated his recruitment. Father of Newton, Cecil, admitted soliciting money from the State of Mississippi during the recruitment process, but said that neither the player nor knowledge Auburn toll attempt.

Third, Buffalo selected Alabama nose tackle Marcell Dareus, which gave to Goodell an even greater hug. Of course, Dareus weighs 308 pounds, about 70 more than Miller - and at least 100 more than Goodell.

Instead, Cincinnati, may call the bluff of quarterback Carson Palmer, who is demanding a trade, took the top receiver in this culture, A.J. Green of the Georgia.

Arizona, also need a quarterback, selected the top cornerback of the available page, Patrick Peterson of LSU.
