The source said Turgeon had not yet, but accepted that Turgeon is bent in the direction of Maryland.
Maryland Sports Director Kevin Anderson flew to meet Sean Miller Arizona Saturday in Las Vegas, but he chose to stay and has received a contract extension.
Our Lady of Mike Brey and Butler's Brad Stevens were also on the list but chose to remain in place.
"It is is really not much to it, other than speculations of there [Maryland] and I understand it with a coaching search," Brey told journalists Monday.
Initial investigations Jamie Dixon of Pitt and Jay Wright of Villanova were also pushed out.
Turgeon would be a quality rental to replace Williams 66 - year-old who is retiring. Turgeon has a team of 25 high potential next season and led the Aggies to the NCAA tournament in each of his four seasons at the school.
Turgeon, a former player of Kansas under Larry Brown, has also led Wichita State in the Sweet 16.
