Sandra Gal Leads Avnet LPGA Classic

Sandra Gal birdied five of the final eight holes Friday for a 5-under 67 and a forward stroke on Amy Yang in Avnet LPGA Classic, single event of the tour in a stretch of six weeks.

GAL, the German star who wins the Kia Classic last month in California for his first title of the LPGA Tour, had a 7 - under 137 total course crossings at the Magnolia Grove of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail complex.

"Obviously, I play well," Gal said. "I just appreciate myself over there.". I mean, I don't do something really different. I was playing solid since the end of last year. Any winner, you know, I think you get more comfortable at the top. Be at the top is one thing. You know, to be and comfortable, it is probably the difference today. ?

GAL bogeyed our 9 and 10 falling 2 slot for the tournament and even by day, then birdied Nos. 11, 12, 13, 16 and 17 to the top of the rankings.

"It was kind of slow", said Gal. "Just made a couple of bogies, 9, 10, it is kind of as a turning point for me.". I was kind of on myself a little bit. While I was like, 'OK, Let's play just a shot at a time and be patient. The birdies will come. "They did, so I was happy about it. ?

Yang shot a 68. She bogeyed No. 1 and had eight straight pars before birdieing our 10, 12, 14, 16 and 17.

She attributed his iron play.

"My irons, mainly irons," Yang said. "It was within 10 feet, five my birdies."

Stacy Lewis, from offshore a major victory in the Kraft Nabisco, had a 71, leaving his two features 5 slot with Karen Stupples (71) and song-Hee Kim (72).

Lewis said "I scrambled around and just got the ball in the hole and was very happy 1 under fire". "It was just up and down all day." I just had to fight. ?

Champion title Se Ri Pak, a winner of three times at Magnolia Grove, had a 71 to match Suzann Pettersen (68), Sun Young Yoo (68), Jenny Suh (69) and Sarah Kemp (70) 4 slot.

Grace Park, linked at the head of the first round with Kim, followed by opening 67 with a 75 to drop to 2 below.

Michelle Wie missed the cut rounds of 76 and 72. Head also abandoned Yani Tseng, shooting 77-72.
