RB Mendenhall Causes stir with Ben Laden's Tweets

 Rashard Mendenhall has created a stir with the comments made on his official Twitter page about the death of Osama bin Laden.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back tweeted Monday: "what kind of person famous death?" It's amazing, how people can HATE a man, they have never even heard about. "We have heard only one side..."


Mendenhall did not accept, even referring to the attacks of September 11.


"We will know never what actually happened." I just have it hard to believe that an airplane could take a down skyscraper demolition style.


The Steelers felt compelled to act. On Tuesday, the President of the Art Rooney II team issued a statement.


"I have not spoken with Rashard, therefore it is difficult to explain or even understand what he meant with his recent comments from Twitter." All of the Steelers organization is very proud of the work our members have made and we cannot that hope this leads to our troops coming home soon. ?


Mendenhall, who himself as a "conversationalist and professional athlete" profiles on his Twitter page, turned a few heads in March, in addition, when he took to support a comment by the Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson comparing the NFL to "modern slavery."


"Any person having knowledge of the slave trade and the NFL might say that these two Parallels eachother," Mendenhall posted at the time.


Mendenhall has a remarkable season, he led the champions AFC carries (324), rushing yards (1,273) and rushing touchdowns (13). There are 2,439 yards in three seasons since was drafted in the first round of 2008 of Illinois.


In the playoffs 2010, Mendenhall ran for 230 yards on 61 carries in three games with four affected, as Pittsburgh defeated the Baltimore Ravens (31-24) and Jets New York (24-19), before falling to Green Bay Packers 31 - 25 in the Super Bowl.


Among its other tweets of bin Laden:


"I believe in God." I believe that we are all his children. And me, that it is the sole and only judge.


"Those who judge others, will be also considered themselves".


"For those of you that says you want to see bin Laden burn..." I ask how would God feel on your heart? ?


"It is not a bone ignoring in my body." I just encourage you to think. ?


Chain of tweets Mendenhall ended around 6 p.m. Monday. It was not tweeted since.


Sports radio talk shows around the nation and Pittsburgh-- was put into service calls Tuesday on his comments.


Mendenhall has 13,631 followers on Twitter, and he personally follows 66. Included in the group that follows is the Dalai Lama, Sarah Silverman and Park Community Church in Chicago.
