Pablo Sandoval of the Giants in San Francisco (fracture of the wrist), 4-6 weeks

WASHINGTON - San Francisco Giants baseball Pablo Sandoval, broke a bone in his right wrist and is expected to miss four to six weeks, adding to concern for the world series champions who have difficulties.

An MRI exam Saturday morning revealed the damage caused to the hamate bone and trainer athletic Giants head Dave Groshner said that Sandoval will probably undergo surgery Tuesday in Arizona. Groshner, stated that the team is that where, exactly, Sandoval was injured.

Hand of Sandoval injured while he was batting over the loss of San Francisco to the Washington Nationals 3-0 on Friday night and he had an x-ray. The hamate bone is at the base of the hand, when the button of the bat is usually when a player is hitting.

"It will be fast." Four weeks, six weeks. I want to just get better as soon as possible, "Sandoval says. "It is not a surprise." I told them, I have had pain. ?

Sandoval is frapper.313 with five Homer and 14 points produced this season.

"It's a hard blow for us," said Manager Bruce Bochy, whose club had lost six of its eight previous games before beating the nationals 2-1 Saturday.

"They have all felt for Pablo", Bochy said of his other players. "They also know that you need focus before."

The Giants already had player Mark DeRosa, Andres Torres fielder and pitcher Barry Zito on the list of persons with disabilities. They also had their problems hitting the end, shut out in two of three games Saturday and marking a total of 21 runs in their last nine games.

Sandoval was a bright spot, though.

"I'm Pablo, because we spoke, several times, how hard he has worked the past shoulder for himself in this type of form, provided that it is,", said Bochy. "And, of course, the way in which he played - it was really paying large dividends how it worked this shoulder." Now, he received get this support. ?

A year ago, Sandoval dealt with significant weight gain and a loss of confidence. But it has fallen nearly 40 books, something which contributed to its range in the field.

Groshner said as he and Sandoval waited in a hospital Saturday, they spoke of how forced time away from the field will still allow the third player to work on his physical condition.

"One positive that he is trying to take out of it, is that he still wants to lose a few pounds more." And it is like, ' this is what I do. I will work. "It can work on his legs. He can still run, "said Groshner. "He is motivated to do this." It is therefore an opportunity to work on the part. It will have a lot of time, this is what we are going to do. ?

Bochy, said the giant plan to call up baseball Ryan Rohlinger from Fresno 2007 Sunday.

On Saturday, shortstop Miguel Tejada made his first start this season at third base - a position that it is regularly played in the majors - and Mike Fontenot started short (and was charged with an error in service in the second round where he dropped a throw). Bochy said that emmanuel Burriss could also obtain begins to the shortstop.

Complete an unusual infield alignment for the Giants Saturday was the Bochy begin use catcher Buster Posey's first goal, instead of Aubrey Huff. The reigning NL rookie had not played in a first time since August 22 in St. Louis and Bochy said before the season, that he did not intend to use Posey it preferring all - give the receiver a full day off the coast to the extent possible.

Posey was playing first base regularly when he was called to last may before the Giants traded veteran catcher of Bengie Molina in Texas.

Bochy was actually thinking to Sandoval first Saturday, with an average stick of the Huff to. 202.

"Huff must one day," said Bochy. "He needs a break, mentally."
