Not sure what to expect with Derby Runner Baffert

Bob Baffert wants to only be in the Kentucky Derby with horses who have a legitimate shot at winning. He believed that having three this year, now the trainer of Fame is up to.

And same Baffert not sound convinced that Midnight Interlude can obtain it at Derby Saturday 137.

The colt lack the seasoning that many previous entries of the Baffert took over the years. Midnight Interlude did not compete for the first time until 29 January, and will try to become just the second horse to win the Derby of 1?-mile without racing as a child of 2 years. Apollo made in 1882.

"I hope that we can escape that," he said. "At this point, you have horses that progresses and can go the distance and it should."

Candidates of Baffert's Derby more high profile, the factor and Jaycito, have been made by a poor performance and injury, respectively.

The factor used his jaw drop cruise to victory by 6? lengths in front rebels issues he finished seventh in the Arkansas Derby. This result gave Baffert a feeling bad about to try him in the Kentucky Derby.

"It was very tempting because this horse is so talented," he said. "It is such a fast horse, but I didn't want to ruin him." It is a free horse, take care of him. ?

The factor is at Churchill Downs this week, although it will resume the race until some time this summer.

Jaycito was forced to leave the Santa Anita Derby with a foot injury, but Baffert won anyway when midnight edged Interlude comma upward by a head. Jaycito will be ready in time for the Preakness on May 21.

"It is a shame because it would have prospered here", said Baffert. "It is difficult to get here and you never know who you are going to do with."

The white-haired trainer with three trophies of Kentucky Derby to his credit - but none since 2002 - a step to expect that it is with midnight interlude.

The colt is not race as a 2-year-old child because he was slow in development. He stayed even at low level Fairplex in Pomona, home of the Los Angeles County Fair. He finished third in his career on 29 January and followed debut with a second-place showing in February.

Midnight Interlude is one of three horses in the Derby with only four departures of career; probable Derby favorite composed in and reign Animal are the others.

Midnight Interlude came into the Derby off the coast of two victories in his last two races while Baffert said the colt is still much to learn how to run.

"The only thing with him is that he was not in a big crowd", Baffert said, referring to the 20-horse Derby field. "If he gets pushed around, I know how it will react."

Midnight Interlude completed his final Derby Monday training. Its time for five stages has been the fastest of seven sessions to the distance, but Baffert not his enthusiastic because another day of rain kept sloppy dirt road.

"I never him working on a dry runway here." When you work on slop, you don't know, "he says. "What we can do is get there and hope that it will keep me in surprise as he was." He learns that he's going along and we learn it. ?

The barn Autour, midnight Interlude is no pussy cat. As winner of the last Derby of Baffert, emblem of the war, the colt "bite anyone." He has a nasty temper, but it is hard. ?

Therefore, Baffert, after going nearly a decade without a Derby win. He believed he had the best horse a year with the first Favorites Lookin at Lucky, but after the colt drew the No. 1 position as well as of internal rail Baffert was ready to go home in California.

Look in to Lucky hit in the rail and finished sixth.

He said "You can come here with a good horse as Lucky and get demolished,". "I think I can win with all the whenever I come here and I walk away talk to myself.".

Baffert maintains its TV to listening to the forecast weather (rain is possible Saturday) as it looked forward to the draw with the fate of Wednesday who decides to post positions.

"You never know when the upper Cup is just around the corner," he said.
