Strategy of Maryland to hold the ball for long periods led to 10 stall warnings, but also limited the number of possessions of the color Orange (15-2). Tillman credited to the position of medium Curtis Holmes to win faceoffs key which allowed of Maryland (12-4) control.

"At some point, I looked in the third quarter and was 9: 30 left and we have not had a possession," Syracuse coach, said John Desko.

With the score tied 5-5 at the beginning of the extension, Syracuse had an opportunity of fast-break, but the position of medium Kevin Drew, with a free field before him, exceeded the objective and the Orange lost possession.
