La Russa lights rear Reds voice for when dig

CINCINNATI - Cardinals manager Tony La Russa does not like this that host Reds Marty Brennaman has to say on his team.

He won the right to enter the Hall of Fame. And now he had to keep earned this respect instead of abusing it.

"-Tony La Russa on the criticism of Marty Brennaman Chris Carpenter"

Brennaman criticized St. Louis starter Chris Carpenter and Launcher coach Dave Duncan on the air Monday, a day after the Reds to beat the Cardinals 9-7 to sweep their series of three games at Great American Ball Park. The game ends with the Cardinals cried Reds closer Francisco Cordero, who then made signs to them in the pond.

After the match, Carpenter was dissatisfied with the condition of the butte - the game takes place in a continuous rain - and smoke that persisted in the stadium by the customary Fireworks to celebrate a Reds home run.

Monday, Brennaman called Carpenter "when and excuse-maker" on the air. He also called Duncan "infant". Duncan was among those on the Cardinals bench screaming Cordero during game play.

Brennaman said that the Cardinals "may be the most disliked team in baseball."

Before game Tuesday of the Cardinals in St. Louis, La Russa note that Brennaman is in the wing of the reputation of baseball broadcasters.

"It has obtained the right to enter the Hall of Fame," La Russa said. "And now he had to keep earned this respect instead of abusing it.".

The animosity between the teams has built rapidly in the past year.

The Cardinals and the Reds do not like the other. And who made them the rivalry more heated and exciting baseball, writes David Schoenfield of ESPN.com. Blog

Carpenter objected to balls of baseball for a game in Cincinnati last year, saying that they were not properly rubbed. The series took a turn nasty in August after the Reds Brandon Phillips second goal player called the complain Cardinal.

The next day, Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina and Phillips were inside at the plate, to offshore of a brawl. Starter Reds Johnny Cueto blows Carpenter and receiver Jason LaRue in the fray, drawing seven-game suspension.

The words in anger Sunday added to the rivalry. Cardinals players and coaches were upset that Cordero threw a 0-2 pitch in Albert Pujols, struck on the back of the wrist. Pujols is not seriously hurt, but Cardinals players and coaches yelled repeatedly to Cordero as he escaped the threat.

Last season, the Reds won the NL Central champion Cardinals. They have three series more left this season, following July 4-6 in St. Louis.
