RICHMOND, Virginia - if there is one thing that Denny Hamlin could change, it not would not have been so forthcoming on Richmond International Racing in all these Joe Gibbs Racing team meetings.
But holding the information on his home track would Hamlin teammate bad, so that he shares everything he knew.
Then, Kyle Busch used these tips beat teammate Saturday night at Richmond, denying Hamlin a sweep of weekend at his home track.
"I learned from Denny last fall, and I will not say what I have learned," Busch said after stretching his final tours of 107 gas tank to get his second victory of the season in Sprint Cup.
It was the third consecutive victory of Busch in the spring Richmond race. Hamlin has won the last two races of the fall, and the latest driver not JGR win in Richmond was Jimmie Johnson in September 2008.
It is no surprise to see Busch, Hamlin finish first and second for a JGR would sweep Saturday night. Hamlin wants just that he had been on the front.
"It is difficult when you share laptops." "You know that these guys got exactly what you got," said Hamlin. "Just got beat by my partner." He drove a great race. I thought that he would burn his stuff up. "Our cars were dead equal."
Hamlin, in a recession of the start of the season, really needed the strong finish to align the funk that has had many wondering if the Championship finalist last year will play for the title again. He was a great start, winning his race of charity Thursday night at ITR and followed with a victory in the race in the Nationwide series Friday night.
And while sitting at the closure of towers, waiting to pounce should tank Busch run dry, he never regretted giving Busch information that finally beat Hamlin."If I tell him the things that I know on the short tracks, that the heads of the crew sends information, this is not a good team," he said. "Yeah, it could cost me a race here or there because it performs on me." In the grand scheme of things, it makes me an overall better pilot. ?
Kasey Kahne, fresh off the coast of surgery to repair a ligament torn in his knee, finished a season best third to give Toyota the top three spots.
"We were not good enough as Gibbs cars, they were really well tonight," Kahne said. "But it is always a good race." "The guys have done a good job and it's nice get a ranking among the five".
The leaders appeared to have an easy going, with most of the fireworks from far behind in the field.
Roush Fenway Racing drivers David Ragan and Carl Edwards finished fourth and fifth Fords, while Clint Bowyer was a Chevrolet sixth. AJ Allmendinger was seventh and was followed by Johnson, Tony Stewart and Brian Vickers.
Kyle Busch wins at Richmond to deny his teammate Hamlin Denny to a sweep of weekend at his home track.
Complete resultsBut Stewart, despite its top-10 Finish, was less happy with the performance.
"We have much work to do," he said. "We [stink] now.". I am uncomfortable about how our stuff is. ?
It was by the course Saturday night.
Ryan Newman and Juan Pablo Montoya were involved in two different incidents on the right track. The first cause of Montoya, the pole-sitter, brushing the wall. His decision to repair the damage dropped him three towers off the coast of pace. He later ran to the rear of the Newman when Newman was running eighth and Newman promised that his recovery would come after the race.
No there was no confrontation, however. Montoya jumped on a waiting golf cart and headed out of the runway, while Newman was walking to the carrier from NASCAR to complain about the conduct of Montoya. What type of action wanted NASCAR?
Just, I guess." I know that you is that, "he says. "To avenge the manner in which he just shows much class."
There has been a history between the two, including contact information which led to a fiery for Montoya crash in its Cup 2006 debut at Homestead. Newman received a search when asked if he thought that Montoya is still mad about this accident.
"Yeah, I don't know if he could even remember back that far," he said.
During this time, Kurt Busch completely lost his nerve on his radio team several times during the race. Frustrated by a car of poor management, it has been pushed on the edge when he ran in a Newman seconds after contact between Newman and Montoya brought out the caution.
And Martin Truex, Jr., in position for a top-five finish, threatened by his radio team to fire its crew when he was penalized twice on his final pit stop.
All that action has made the effective arrival quite calm and Hamlin and Kahne shared a smile sly any knowing participation at the Conference of equine press on any of the excitement in the race.
"I look at the screen... whenever Montoya damage, you can see who did, they end up usually get wrecked," said Hamlin. "" "". "You know usually coming".
