Kenseth takes away late at Dover a second victory

DOVER,.-first idea of Matt Kenseth was to jump the pit road, take a chance that he could begin on a reboot first and hang a victory.

Then, he had another idea. Why not just take two tires on the road to the sky instead of four?

Matt Kenseth tamed the Monster Mile in improbable fashion, Sunday, using a pari pit-stop on the segment to deny the most dominant drivers of 400 of FedEx - Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards. With his No. 17 Ford on jack, Kenseth called the audible and said team Chief Jimmy Fennig that he wanted two.

"Two tires! Two tires! "Fennig said.

His crew has the switch before they abandoned the car and that was the perfect strategy Kenseth needed to win the Sprint Cup at Dover International Speedway Sunday race.

Kenseth led the final 32 towers to win for the second time this season. Also, he won in Texas and became the third driver to win twice this season.

Altered pursuant to rules of the NASCAR qualifying for the hunt for the Championship to focus on wins, Kenseth has strengthened its bid for the field with his second victory.

"My mind is to be there and try to carry out these points in the Chase and try to hunt as a Championship," said Kenseth. "We do not want to drag out victories." We want to go out there and as each race this week. ?

Mark Martin was second and third Marcos Ambrose. Kyle Busch and Brian Vickers rounded out the top five. Busch was forced to start at the back of the field due to a change of engine.

Russ Hamilton Sr.Matt Kenseth celebrates after winning the Sprint Cup race at Dover for his second victory of the season.

Kenseth made debut at Dover Cup in 1998 as a fill in for Bill Elliott. He won for the second time in the Cup on the road series concrete high-turns, 1 mile.

"It is one of these tracks is a challenge to bypass the Rapids, if you are an individual races or not", said Kenseth.

The 400 mile race was dominated by long periods of green flag racing. Jimmie Johnson and Edwards this transformed into a battle of two cars for first for the majority of the race. Edwards led 117 rounds before falling to seventh place. Johnson led a race high 207 towers and finished ninth.

Kenseth and crew, team leader Bob Osborne Edwards made a call for four tires on the last restart which he passed to ninth and spoiled his chance at victory.

"I had no choice," really, Edwards said. "It is for the guys in the box." It is too difficult to make a choice to make here and I don't blame not one bit of Bob Osborne. ?

Regan Smith was 34th week after it shocked the sport with his first victory of career at Darlington Raceway.

Busch, Kevin Harvick had no incidents after that a clash of road pit at Darlington their deplaned in probation. Harvick was 10th.

Martin stayed on the trail of old tires to take the lead when the caution flag comes out with 39 towers on the left. Kenseth made a stop faster and opted for two tires instead of four, the correct number for him to get old Martin on the restart and then remove for victory.

Matt Kenseth later fired the rest of the field late to win his second race of the season.

"We were going to make four, we obtained in the stall and decided to make two. It was the key, "said Kenseth.

Kenseth overthrown team leader Jimmy Fennig and made the call for two tires.

"When I was on the jack, I asked if he was sure that we didn't try two and he said to two pants," said Kenseth. "It was really calling Jimmy and a good suggestion by me."

Kenseth said that it was difficult during the race green flag because the rubber which built on the fact way slick concrete - an obstacle for a car loose.

When the short runs has started coming, Kenseth has found a way cleaner and clean air was enough to raise his race.

Kenseth, 2003 series champion, won his 20th career Cup race.

Martin received his first top five of the season.

"Today, we have finally achieved a finish," he said. "It seemed that was going to get 15 with a race car again very soon." We had a race car that much this year good. But it seems that for one reason or another, we find ourselves on the back of the rear. ?

Kenseth dominated when he won in Texas to end a series 76-race winless. He has been strong this year and has four top fives of the page, which gives him the confidence that another victory was on the horizon. He began the 24 and roared back to win.

"The whole organization has been the better construction, the fastest race cars," said Kenseth.
