Holyfield Faces Nielsen, hopes for another title

At the age of 48 years, Evander Holyfield give up on its hopes of regaining the world heavyweight title.

The former undisputed champion resumed his quest longshot Saturday when it takes 46 year-old Brian Nielsen of the Denmark in a non-title bout in the Danish capital.

"My goal is to be the undisputed champion of the world... again," Holyfield (43-10-2), said. "".

In his last appearance of ring, Holyfield was cut over the left eye by a head butt accidental in its fight with Sherman Williams in January. The fight was held void.

This time, Coach Tommy Brooks predicts that Holyfield will beat Nielsen in two towers.

"I think evander is in a much better shape than (Nielsen) is and we will take advantage", said Brooks. "The first error it does, we will capitalize on this.".

Holyfield, who held the world title four times, was more cautious.

"I'm going to give my best," he said. "" "". I'll take a tour at the time. "Anything is possible".

However, he added, "If you touch people with a clean shot, people fall."

The game room of Concert of Copenhagen 2 100 seats was initially set at March 5, but has been postponed to Holyfield to give time to recover from an injury.

"I have no problem at all." I have a scar that is all. "I don't feel no pain," Holyfield said Associated Press.

Nielsen (64-2, 43 KOs) is a very popular figure in the Denmark, where he is affectionately nicknamed "Super Brian." He recognized that Holyfield was the favorite, but promised that the fight will not be an easy victory.

"I know that it will be really difficult to beat, but he meets someone who stands on the floor before him," said Nielsen, who lost 44 pounds for his first fight after nine years to retirement. "I will fight until I can withstand more."

Nielsen has lived a difficult year.

Next spent eight months in a camp of intensive training in Germany away from his family, his wife Jeannette gave birth to twins, while fighting against breast cancer. In March, from a previous relationship, Steffen Nielsen 24 year-old son was sentenced to 10 months in prison for the assault.

"I feel ready, I can do," Nielsen said.

Nielsen last fought in 2002 and shortly after retired because of a knee injury.

The Danes won the lightly regarded IBO title in 1996, when he stopped Tony La Rosa in the second round. It also ended hopes of 47 years former champion Larry Holmes to win another belt in a defense of title with success a year later.

Promoter Sauerland Kalle said all but "some 200" tickets have been sold for the fight. Ticket prices range from 1 500 crowns ($299) to 4 500 crowns ($896).
