MILWAUKEE - "Bernie brewer" is a popular guy - so that there is not enough of it for everyone.
Ornamental lawn approximately 1 400 statues representing the mascot of the affable Brewers, Castellaneta were hidden in all of Wisconsin Tuesday at the start for fans to find, some with tickets, prices and autograph player attached.
But some were crying fault when it appeared a number of fans had obtained a step ahead of the scavenger hunt "Where's Bernie?" promotion hunt-style and ignored the catch limit of ornamentation of a lawn per household.
It didn't take long before social networking sites have been buzzing with complaints concerning some fans staking of workers who have been wonderfully well statues before the Sunrise, then alignment up logs ornaments as soon as they have been hidden.
Spokesman for Brewers Tyler Barnes said answer fan to the promotion of the morning of Tuesday scavenger hunt-style is "huge", if official team were disappointed that some fans did not play by the rules.
"It is disappointing," said Barnes. "The intention of the promotion and the rules of the promotion were eminently clear - this was one per household."
On his website, WISM-TV reported that lawn ornaments distributed in Milwaukee's Lincoln Park was dégottées in a few minutes.
A Twitter user posted a photo of at least 10 statues of Bernie Brewer stuffed in the trunk of a car, the wrath of colleagues drawing fans. The user appeared to be later removed the Twitter account.
Several statues have also been for sale on eBay, with $200 at the head of the bid.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in a Twitter post conducted a hoarder of mascot presumed, someone wrote: "U R the smallest common denominator." 30 + Statues of Bernie? "Disgusts your greed me more than your profile picture".
Barnes was at a park area of Milwaukee to help implement the promotion to 3 hours of the morning Tuesday and said more than 300 fans who showed that it y later in the morning to find statues generally not respected the rules of the promotion.
"The goal is to get these (ornaments) in the hands of households as much as they could," said Barnes.
Barnes, stated that the team was aware that things did not went so smooth everywhere and will review its procedures for similar promotions in the future.
Not all lawn ornaments have disappeared. Barnes told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the store team has them for the sale of $48.
