Djokovic is Lendl starting the season 29-0

MADRID - Novak Djokovic extended its season-opening WINS in 29 matches Thursday at the Madrid Open, representing the best departure from tennis in 25 years.

Novak Djokovic matched the best start of men since 1986 tennis season, when he improved his record to 29 2011 - 0 Thursday.
The champion of the Open of Australia won all 21 of his first service points in the defeat of Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-1, 6-2 and advance to the quarterfinals. He was joined by his colleague third round winner Roger Federer and head Rafael Nadal, that points after opponent Juan Martin del Potro withdrew with a hip injury.

Djokovic, which is 31 - 0 since the final of the Davis Cup last year, is linked to the third party with Ivan Lendl for the best start to the season since 1980. John McEnroe won 42 straight to start the 1984 season and Bjorn Borg won 33 consecutive in the 1980 season.

"I know I am playing great now but there is always something that you can improve the, you can never be perfect", said the Serbian player. "I am winning comfortably service games.". "It is something, that I am happy today and a fact encouraging for the upcoming matches, especially on clay".

Djokovic will surpass Lendl mark if he wins the quarter-final Friday against David Ferrer or Sergiy Stakhovsky. Nadal will play Michael Llodra, who defeated Daniel Gimeno - Traver 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4).

Federer recovered in the battle on Wednesday against Feliciano Lopez to Xavier Malisse of Belgium, 6-4, 6-3. Ranked fourth Andy Murray bounced back into the clay court tournament 6 - 4, 6-2 by forceful Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci.

Federer had total control after having pushed to the limit a night earlier, when the Swiss player ranked third was forced to save a match point.

"Mentally, I had to change a little." I wanted to just put in a good performance, which is what I did, "said Federer. "It was a quick recovery." I just had to cross this match today having quarters in sight. ?

Federer will play Robin Soderling Friday after the Swedish player edged Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7 - 6 (8), 7-5.

Del Potro withdrew after feeling discomfort in his left hip. With its participation in the France Open at stake, Del Potro chose not to risk another wound after that surgery wrist sidelined him for most of last year.

"It is not good to have to withdraw from this tournament and this game, which would have been nice to play, but I'm not in shape," said the Argentine 32nd rank, which dropped to no. 481 in January before win at Delray Beach and Estoril. "I tried but I'm not in shape to play."

During this time, Murray is visibly frustrated by Bellucci as the Brazilian set used four aces to help save the three points of rupture of Murray.

Bellucci will play seventh-seeded Czech player Tomas Berdych, who defeated Juan Monaco of the Argentina, 7 - 5, 6-3.
